This process of Vacuum Freeze Drying is undisputedly the best method for drying paper products. Unlike other methods, the documents stay frozen the entire time and sustain no further damage during the drying process.  In order to dry the product, it is first frozen.  This stabilizes the product and stops: ink running, mold growth, wrinkling, sticking and swelling.  The product is then placed in the chamber and vacuum is drawn.  The ice on the product then sublimates (goes directly from solid to a vapor).  The vapor then reforms as ice on the condenser, leaving the product dry.
